Where It All Began…

In August of 2017, our founders, Jordan and Kayla Grizzard invited a few friends over to their apartment on 57th Street to connect over their love of art and faith. After a great night, they decided to keep inviting people over….and the word spread. Soon, the group outgrew that midtown apartment as THE HANG went from a small group of friends to a thriving community that spans all 5 boroughs of New York City.

What We Do

THE HANG supports our members through the three branches of our mission statement: social, professional, and spiritual.

SOCIAL BRANCH

New York may be filled with people but it can be a lonely place. At THE HANG we offer our people access to a community of artists that do life together- friendships that not only make them HAPPY but help them strive after HOLINESS. Come find new like minded friends at THE HANG then see them in the audition room or rehearsal.

PROFESSIONAL BRANCH

We offer professional development opportunities for our people that include masterclasses with Broadway performers like Laura Osnes, Corey Cott, and Quentin Earl Darrington, dance classes, filming for reels, and our “Spotlight Conversations” where we have open discussions with industry professionals that include Broadway writers, performers, choreographers and more! We want to see our people improve their skills and book those jobs!

SPIRITUAL BRANCH

Our goal is to introduce our people to Jesus and see them grow in their love and devotion to Christ. We host gatherings twice a month where we open the Word and have honest discussions to help them deepen their faith and challenge their walk with the Lord. We want to see passive Christians become passionate Christ followers on fire for God.

ONE GOD

There is one God. He is the God of the Bible who was and is and will always be. He exists as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

(John 14:7–16; Genesis 1:1; 1:26–27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Isaiah 40:28–29; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

JESUS

Jesus is God’s only Son. He was born of a virgin and walked among His people. He was 100% God and 100% human. He was the One promised to the Jews in the Old Testament, lived a sinless life, bore the sins of the world by dying on a cross, was buried, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.

(Matthew 1:22–23; Isaiah 9:6; 53:5–6; John 1:1–5; 14:10–30; Hebrews 4:14–15; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Romans 1:3–4; Acts 1:9–11; 1 Timothy 6:14–15; Titus 2:13)

HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is sent to the believers to help, counsel, and teach as they seek to live for Him. He also works to reveal Christ, convict of sin and lead people to repentance.

THE BIBLE

The Bible is God’s Holy Word. Penned by human men, but written by God himself without error or contradiction. It is the revelation of God by which we know Him and learn to live.

SALVATION

Salvation is God’s free gift made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus alone. No good deed or good intention can grant salvation, but only by repenting of sin and allowing Him to rule as Lord.

BAPTISM

Baptism as demonstrated in scripture is done by immersion after salvation as Jesus commanded. Baptism is not required for salvation but is done as a public declaration of association to Jesus.
